AFO

An AFO, or ankle-foot orthosis, can be used to stabilize a weakened or painful ankle joint, reduce unwanted motions, or maintain alignment. AFOs may be fabricated from plastic or leather and can include various straps to help support and stabilize the joint.

SMO

An SMO, or supramalleolar orthosis, supports the foot and ankle and is usually prescribed to children for conditions such as pes planus (flat feet) or mild toe walking. Multiple measurements will be taken of each foot to ensure a custom fit for these orthoses.

KAFO

A KAFO, or knee-ankle-foot orthosis, is an orthosis that extends the full length of the leg and is designed to provide stability to weakened joints, control unwanted motions, and provide stability. A cast of the leg will be taken to achieve a customized fit.

CAM Walker

CAM walkers limit motion in the ankle and foot after injury, and can also be modified to reduce pressure on ulcerations on the foot.

Diabetic Shoes

Diabetic shoes, in combination with foot orthotics, help protect the feet. Foot orthotics will redistribute pressure to avoid skin breakdown, and the extra-depth diabetic shoes will ensure enough room for the foot and the foot orthosis within the shoe.

Other orthotic devices include knee orthoses, wrist-hand-finger orthoses, elbow orthoses, TurboMed XTERN external AFO, PRAFO/podus boot, custom CROW boots, and protective cranial helmets.

Other types of orthoses can be fabricated in our on-site lab as needed.
